On Gratitude: 2010 In Review

Wow, what a year!  The first week of the year, my uncle passed away and I attended his funeral.  The last week of the year, I’m sitting here writing a blog post on my brand new website with my brand new kidney.  Then there is all the delicious stuffing in between.  Here is the highlight reel of this year:

-I found out from my father that my great- great-grandfather was white

-I got married!!  33 years in the making!

-For our honeymoon, we went to the beautiful Hawaiian island of Kauai. Un. Be. Lieveable.  While we were on what is referred to as the “Garden Isle”, we went to the most incredible place I’ve ever been to, Ke’e Beach. While standing on Ke’e Beach, I looked up and saw mountains, I looked straight ahead and saw the ocean, I looked down and saw wild chickens on the beach.  Panoramic goodness.

-I received a kidney transplant on September 20th. No more dialysis!

-Decided to make a change in my life, this website and various other things I’ll talk about later are the result.

-Wait, did I mention I got married?

So how do I show gratitude?  Thank you doesn’t seem enough.  I could make God a bunch of promises that really, I probably won’t remember or keep.

I think I’m going to reflect upon the year, and make the absolute most out of the blessings that have happened this year.  Also, I am going to make the most out of the bad things that have happened this year, the lowlight reel.  I think those bad things were there to make me stronger and to bring me to the place I am now internally.

So I say goodbye and toast 2010 this morning with a bowl of Frosted Flakes and a grateful attitude.  Adios!
