Two Years Of Gratitude

Happy New Year !!! Tim Hamilton via Compfight

Two years gone by

Dialysis no more

A daily ritual of pain and cleanse

Blends into memories.

A donor unknown

Forever gratitude for an unselfish gift

One day, I hope to meet his family

To exchange names, hugs, and tears.

A new kidney installed

A second chance to begin to live

No more excuses, no more fault finding

The ROI of an extraordinary gift

Deems I treat people and my craft with love, grace, hope, and aplomb.

Forever and ever

Amen.

[Poem #232.  Context: Two years ago today, I received a kidney transplant from an anonymous, deceased donor.  I was on the transplant list for 3 1/2 years (the average wait for a transplant is 2-5 years).  For more of the story, you can check it out here.  Thank you for reading and sharing in this celebration!]
